Hey Crew! Here are some pics I took when I went to visit the embassy! They gave me a bunch of flyers brochures etc.. but they are mainly for tourism purposes. I left them in Sophia's Office if anyone is interested in some :)
Last night's meeting was awesome! I am actually starting to put names to faces, this is an incredible opportunity for us to get to know each other more! We will be spending lots of time together! I have already started the countdown until we leave, It really doesn't seem that far away! 3 months and 8 days - we have a lot of work to do before then! Good luck and happy fundraising :)
Leading up to the Dominican Experience we will remind you of your first meeting: setting your goals and bringing forth your fears and expectations. Take a minute to reflect again to evaluate your progress.
Hopes:
To have an amazing experience
To help others, have an impact in the community, and make a difference
To have a unique experience that introduces you to new people
To have a memorable experience that introduces you to different cultures and a different side of the world
To have a positive memorable experience, that will make you a better person and role model.
To learn valuable new skills
Fears:
Of getting injured or sick to the point where you can’t participate
Of being overwhelmed by the task, culture, and living conditions
Not connecting with the team or community and disappointing them
Not knowing what to expect for safety, the community and the airport
Of not being able to make a lasting difference or achieve our goals
Not having enough money
Expectations:
To try new food, and see a different lifestyle
To make new friends, learn new skills, and become a better person
To have a lasting impression on the community, kids, and their families
To have an awesome experience
To learn about different cultures and exchange cultural values
A really exciting week for ASB! This traveller was able to renew her passport in eleven minutes, gather some helpful news about drafting a fundraising letter and received my FIRST donation to the tune of $150!
I am very blessed to be a part of this. Thank you to all supporters who make this possible.
